OPTIMIZING LINE
FOR THE FUTURE

MECHELEN, BELGIUM

OVERVIEW

From September 2023 to May 2024, the project focused on the feasibility and conceptual engineering of a major packing line revamp in Kellanova. This initiative aimed to define the scope and budget for an optimized, efficient, and future-ready packaging process. By collaborating with stakeholders and multidisciplinary teams, the project ensured a structured approach to identifying improvement areas and implementing data-driven solutions.

DESCRIPTION

The project began with an in-depth preparation phase, including stakeholder interviews, work package definition, and time scheduling. Trials were then conducted to assess machine capacity, operational efficiency, and potential bottlenecks, with findings documented in detailed reports.

A final scope and budget definition phase involved risk analysis, supplier negotiations, and decision-support documentation to guide future implementation. By combining strategic planning with technical expertise, this project laid the groundwork for a high-performance, cost-effective, and scalable packing line upgrade at Kellanova Mechelen.

GREENFIELD HATCHERY

ROTONGARO, NEW ZEALAND

OVERVIEW

In April 2019, a state-of-the-art hatchery near Hamilton, New Zealand was successfully completed for COBB. This €10,8 million turnkey project was designed to enhance poultry breeding capabilities in the Asia-Pacific region. The facility, spanning 368 acres, includes a hatchery, quarantine shed, and multiple rearing and production sheds. With an annual capacity of two million grandparent breeding stocks, it capitalizes on New Zealand’s disease-free status to ensure premium-quality poultry exports.

PROJECT EXECUTION & MILESTONES

Launched in late 2017, the project progressed rapidly from conceptual design to detailed engineering by early 2018. Infrastructure installation—including HVAC systems, electrical panels, and automation—began in August 2018, with on-site construction completed by December. Commissioning, supported by remote PLC validation, was finalized in March 2019, leading to a successful handover in April.

This landmark investment reinforces COBB's commitment to global food security, leveraging cutting-edge engineering and New Zealand’s biosecurity advantages to serve key markets across the Asia-Pacific.

LPG PRESSURE
VESSELS

KARDITSA, GREECE

OVERVIEW

Between 2012 and 2015, the engineering and design of LPG pressure vessels were successfully executed in Thessaloniki and Karditsa, Greece for TANKI GAS I.K.E. This project focused on safety, compliance, and efficiency, ensuring that all pressure vessels met the AD Merkblatt 2000 standards. With TÜV Hellas approval and certification, the project set a benchmark for quality and regulatory compliance in industrial gas storage.

DESCRIPTION

The project began with an in-depth methodology assessment to determine the most suitable pressure vessel standards. It progressed to the detailed engineering phase, which included calculations for sheet thickness, welding, reinforcement, and support structures. A specialized tool was developed for precise design calculations, while AutoCAD drawings provided detailed manufacturing blueprints. Manufacturing validation involved on-site inspections, radiography testing, and water pressure trials to ensure vessel integrity.

This project stands as a milestone in LPG storage engineering, combining rigorous research, cutting-edge design, and strict safety protocols to deliver high-performance pressure vessels for industrial and commercial use.

RESIDENTIAL
BUILDING

THESSALONIKI, GREECE

OVERVIEW

In 2012, a modern six-floor residential building with a retail store was successfully designed in Thessaloniki, Greece. The project, which received full approval from authorities, focused on energy efficiency, structural integrity, and advanced mechanical systems. Rated Energy Category A+, it met high environmental standards without requiring design adjustments, ensuring sustainability and efficiency for future residents and businesses.

DESCRIPTION

The engineering phase included structural material selection, heating system design, natural gas and plumbing networks, fire protection, and electrical distribution systems. Heating was managed through a central gas-fired boiler and radiators, while split-type air conditioning units ensured cooling. Comprehensive calculations for elevator selection, sewerage, and water supply further enhanced functionality.

A detailed technical file and CAD-based drawings documented all systems, ensuring a seamless approval process. This project stands as a testament to precision engineering and modern urban planning, delivering a sustainable and high-performing building in the heart of Thessaloniki.
